Pros and Cons of Moving to White House Tennessee

First off the city of a white house is one of the fastest growing small towns in middle Tennessee. I remember growing up here when they just had a few mom and pops and a piggly wiggly!! Lol  and now they have everything from walmart, tractor supply and everything else in between.

Con…….too much growth in such a short time. Since 2020 it has had an exponential growth of almost 14%. There have been multiple large communities that has been built or to be built in the White House area and many of the residents believe that the city lacks the infrastructure to support it.  But luckily the city did decline a construction of a 950 home neighborhood on the Robertson County side of White House!

Pros…..southern charm….this is still the type of town that you drive down a small road and the person that drives past you waves, or that opens the doors for you but more than anything just a simple please and thank you goes a long way and you will get that here.

Cons….fitness facilities….there are only 2 gyms in the town…. I’m an avid weightlifter and Just Be Fit is great for the hardcore freeweight crowd. However if you are like most and like the newer, good quality equipment than you are going to have to either go to Portland to the local Planet Fitness or to Hendersonville which has many good fitness gyms and both are about 20 minutes away.

Pros….Schools. Either if you are in the Sumner County side or Robertson County side of white house you are doing great. Both schools are ranked at the top of the mid state. Also both schools are big on their sports teams, especially high school football. I went to white house high school and one thing that everyone always talked about was BDP. Blue Devil Pride. And thats not just meaning have pride in your football team but have pride in your town and they truly do.

Pro/con…no real chain restaurants. The only chain restaurants in the entire town is Cracker Barrell and Waffle House. Now dont get me wrong, I would take the Pepsi challenge to any of the local joints against a chain any day of the week.l Places like EJs, Mollipazzos and Colorado Grill are some of the best restaurants I’ve even eaten at.  But sometimes your just in the mood for your tried and true like a chillis or outback. And if you want that you will have to drive to Hendersonville or Rivergate which are both about 20 minutes away.

Pros….coffee shops….you will never get tired of the same old coffee in this town. Lets count em…we have starbucks, dunkin donuts, international tea and coffee, deja moo, scooters, Cafe 31 and you cant forget Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii!! :)  You would think this was the town that never sleeps with this many coffee shops!!! lol

Pros…..Convenience…..I would say that White House is in one of the best locations in middle Tennessee. It is 20 minutes from other small cities like Hendersonville, Gallatin or Springfield but your only 30 minutes from Nashville, 45 from Bowling and less than an hour from Clarksville. Its just a prime location to live in.

Pros-there are many great places for activities, the city park is absolutely fantastic which includes an inclosed dog park, a disc golf course as well as 2 separate playgrounds. 1 is for younger kids and ther other is more geared towards kids a bit older with many climbing stations. The city also has a splash pad for kids to have a blast during the summer and parents can even reserve parties there. Also they have the Fran Hutson ampitheatre which is a great outdoor concert area where they hold local concerts during the summer and they also have another playground for kids of all ages. Also the city has recently approved a music themed RV park with a new store and restaurant as well.  . The city also approved the construction of the White House City Recreation Center, which will have basketball court, walking track, game room and that much needed fitness center

But as you see there has been many changes of the city and many to come but even with some of the flaws it has, White House is not only one of the best small towns in Middle Tennessee but the best kept secret in the state.
