Moving to Nashville: everything you need to know about Music City before moving here

First off almost every year Nashville is plced as one of the best places to live in the United States of America.  It is the largest metropolitan area in the state of Tennessee with a population of just under 1.3 Million.  Also, Nashville of course is mostly known for its music and hot chicken but I will tell you its not all that this city is about.

WEATHER

Our weather is pretty mild for the most part, especially in the fall and spring. Winters are cold, getting down to the mid 20s at its worst but only about 6 inches of snow per year. You do have to worry about black ice though!! It is very hard to see and very slick. Also because of the lack of snow, people DO NOT know how to drive in it when it happens! So watch out for that! But living in the south you're going to get some hot Summers and Nashville is no different! Our summers get up to around 95 degrees which doesn’t seem too bad but with the 80% humidity it can be pretty rough sometimes!

TOURISM

Of course Nashville is very well known for its Tourism and for good reason. With all the live music and fun times you can get on Broadway, the festivals as well as the convention center. Also Nashville is known as having one of the  biggest 4th of July display in the nation almost every year. First off you have lower broadway area that's like the Pinnacle of the tourism in Music City.  Not only is that close to Bridgestone arena where the Predators play as well as where they have big concerts and events going on daily but Broadway is where most of the big clubs and bars are at that is geared towards tourists such as Nudies, Margaritaville and The Stage. But with events going on all year round like CMA fest, Live on the Green, Music City Brewers Festival as well as the Tennessee Craft Fair you will always have opportunities to visit year round and find something fun to do.

HOSPITALS

One aspect about Nashville that alot of people don’t realize is that it has some of the best hospitals in the nation! Of course everyone wants to talk about Vanderbilt Medical Center, and they should! Vanderbilt is one of the best hospitals in the country, it is a Level 1 trauma center and it also has so many specialists that you would not believe it. But that is not the only hospital in the city! The hospitals have very tactically positioned themselves in different areas of the city so you know if an emergency happened then they were prepared. And there are many fantastic hospitals in the Nashville Metro area. On the south side there is Southern Hills, West side is St. Thomas West, Midtown there is Centennial Medical Center as well as St. Thomas Midtown and also if you are on the north side of town you have Skyline Hospital, which is a Level 2 trauma center as well as a stroke center, however, they do not have a labor and delivery department just to keep that in mind.  So pretty much anywhere you go you will be in good shape, and if your looking for a city with many great medical facilities then this is the place for you!

MUSIC

Of course when talking about Nashville you have to talk about the music industry. Nashville not only has many musicians the live and work here but many music studios and venues as well. Some of the more well known venues are places like Ryman auditorium and Grand Ole Opry but there are other fantastic venues that host great musicians such as Marathon Music Works, Rocket Town and Mercy Lounge. But Nashville’s music scene is mostly known as a bar scene. Whether you are going to “Honkey Tonk Alley” on Broadway or head out to Music Row you have plenty of choices to find a good place with fantastic music! And for those of you that are true music fans then you should check out the famous Blue Bird Cafe, you will not regret it!

SPORTS

When it comes to Nashille we are all about our sports!! Nashville is home to 3 major sports teams. Nashville Predators, who are our local hockey team, the newly minted Major League Soccer team Nashville SC which many people are very excited about, as well as the Tennessee Titans which has just recently come to an agreement to rebuild their stadium with a brand new state of the art dome stadium that could have the potential of hosting the Olympics or even the Super Bowl!!

TAXES

Taxes are low…Another great thing about living in Nashville and middle tennessee in general is the low taxes. First off the state of Tenneesse has zero income tax. Also property taxes are higher in Nashville than most of the surrounding suburbs but is still lower than many other big cities at $4.516 per $100 of property

Not only are there many businesses and shops all throughout the city but there are plenty of good paying industrial jobs in the Nashville area as well as low unemployment rate of 3.4%

Alot of people think about Nashille food they think about Hot Chicken and its not all about Hatie B’s and Princes but many other hot chicken restaurants have opened up recently in Nashville as well as the rest of Middle Tennessee.however its not just about hot chicken in the Nashville area. First off we have to talk about Southen Food in the area. We’re talking anything fried or sauteed there are plenty for you!
